Trumpet Skirt

Hey World! I saw a picture of Beyoncé wearing a trumpet skirt a few weeks back and thought it would be fun to recreate it (See Beyoncé’s skirt HERE). I remembered view D from Burda 6955 had a trumpet version so I made it with a fun fabric. I believe the fabric I used was a mixture of cotton and knit. It had a slight stretch to it but with less of a drape affect. I thought it looked pretty and was cheap so it could only be a win-win situation for me.

Because the fabric was on the medium weight side, I decided it wasn’t necessary to line the entire skirt. I did line the trump/flounce portion of the skirt because it’s visible. I also made a custom waist band for this skirt to give it a little edge. I had no idea how to make a waist band so I took apart an old skirt containing a waist band (like Humpty Dumpty for sewing lol) and used it as a guide. It all came together very nicely. I believe Beyoncé’s skirt retailed for more than $600.00. My skirt was 8 bucks. Can you say winning!!!!!

I hope you’ve enjoyed.

Until next time,
DeShanda
